EMDR Therapy

A structured, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess unhealed trauma so distressing memories lose their intensity.

EMDR is recognized for its effectiveness in treating PTSD, anxiety, depression, and trauma-related symptoms, and is endorsed by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

How it works

EMDR supports healing by helping your brain process memories that may be stuck or unresolved. We use bilateral stimulation to gently activate the brain’s natural ability to integrate experiences in a safer, less distressing way. Many clients notice meaningful relief in fewer sessions compared to traditional talk therapy.

What to expect

During sessions, we identify target memories and use bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or gentle tapping) to support adaptive healing. You’ll be guided through the process in a structured yet flexible way. Sessions are collaborative, paced strategically with care, and centered on your comfort and readiness.

Who are your services for?
Embracing Wellness works with adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, life transitions, relational challenges, and emotional overwhelm. Our services are especially affirming for BIPOC clients, LGBTQIA+ clients, first-generation individuals, and those carrying the weight of being “the strong one.”
Do I need a diagnosis to receive therapy?
No. Therapy is not only for people with diagnoses. Many clients come for support, healing, growth, or stress management. If a diagnosis is required for insurance purposes, this will be discussed openly and collaboratively.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. All services are currently provided via secure telehealth, allowing you to receive care from a private and comfortable space.
How often will we meet?
Session frequency is individualized and may be weekly, bi-weekly, or as needed. This is something we decide together and adjust over time.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. All services are confidential, with limited exceptions required by law. Confidentiality and its limits are reviewed during the intake process.
What if I’m unsure this is the right fit?
That’s completely okay. Therapy works best when there is alignment and trust. A consultation allows you to ask questions, learn more about the process, and decide whether Embracing Wellness feels like the right fit without pressure.
