Accepting New Clients in DC

About Me

I support adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, self-esteem, and personal growth. I am especially passionate about supporting clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves and want to better understand their emotions, strengthen their coping skills, and develop healthier patterns in their lives and relationships.

I completed my Bachelors in Psychology at Towson University before pursuing my Masters in Social Work. My clinical background includes individual psychotherapy, diagnostic and psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, crisis and safety assessment, and care coordination. I have experience supporting adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, mood disorders, substance use concerns, sleep difficulties, and complex life stressors.

My experience in behavioral and integrated healthcare settings has also shaped my understanding of how mental health can intersect with relationships, work, physical health, finances, and other areas of everyday life.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is collaborative, strengths-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed. I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely heard and supported while also having space to challenge patterns that may no longer be serving you.

Together, we can explore the experiences that have shaped you, identify your strengths, and develop practical strategies that support the life and relationships you want to build.

I incorporate evidence-informed approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, solution-focused interventions, psychoeducation, and trauma-informed care. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor our work to your individual needs, experiences, values, and goals.

Above all, I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can show up authentically. My role is not only to support you through difficult moments, but also to encourage reflection, accountability, self-compassion, and growth as you work toward meaningful and sustainable change.

Stephanie Ukwandu practices under the clinical supervision of Felicia Campbell.

Outside of Therapy

Outside of the therapy room, I prioritize my own wellness through reading, cooking, watching movies, spending time with friends and family, trying new experiences, and creativity.
