Christina Hamilton

she/her Summer Intern Hampton University

Christina serves in a non-clinical internship role and does not provide therapy or clinical services.

Meet Christina

Christina is a fourth-year undergraduate Psychology student at Hampton University with a strong interest in Black maternal and mental health. She began her undergraduate career as a biochemistry major before transitioning to psychology after an impactful and positive experience in an introductory course.

Since then, Christina has become passionate about creating supportive spaces that promote emotional vulnerability and mental health awareness, particularly within the Black community. She is currently developing research on the internalization of the “Strong Black Woman Schema” and its influence on help-seeking attitudes about maternal mental health in Black college women.

Through this research, Christina hopes to create initiatives that address not just the issue, but the root of it.

In addition to her academics, Christina has experience in leadership, community engagement, and content creation through several campus organizations. She looks forward to continuing her research and broadening her skills as she pursues a future career in clinical psychology.

Role at Embracing Wellness

As a summer intern at Embracing Wellness, Christina supports community outreach initiatives, social media engagement, practice operations, and special projects connected to culturally grounded mental health care.

Her role is designed to support her continued learning while giving her exposure to the administrative, outreach, and community-centered work that helps sustain a private mental health practice.
