Professional Bio

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience at the intersections of mental health and social justice. I hold a Master’s in Social Work with a Certificate in Mental Health from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Science and Psychology from Syracuse University.

My career began as a social worker at the Royal Courts of Justice in London, a child advocate at a Pittsburgh law firm, and later as a Certified Forensic Interviewer in New York assisting in the investigation and prosecution of child sexual abuse cases. These early experiences shaped my passion for supporting trauma recovery and guided my transition into clinical practice.

I later entered academia, serving as a Clinical Instructor of Social Work at Yale University School of Medicine and as a Field Instructor at the University of Houston. In these roles, I published research and advocated for systemic change in mental health care. I’ve also presented at institutions and conferences including the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Leadership Conference, the Human Rights Commission, Yale Medicine, and the University of Tennessee.

Today, I offer trauma-informed, culturally responsive psychotherapy for adults who are exhausted from overperforming, overthinking, and pushing through unmet needs. I support those overfunctioning on the surface but internally overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, maybe battling depression and anxiety, processing trauma, and/or barely holding it together. I integrate trauma-informed talk therapy with body-based healing practices to help clients reconnect with themselves and release what they've been carrying for too long.

HerStory

Embracing Wellness began as a wellness blog in 2020 and later evolved into a Washington, DC-based therapy practice dedicated to healing, authenticity, and community care. As a Bronx native, I’ve witnessed both the pervasive pain and the powerful resilience that shape our lived experiences. Across my journey through New York City, London, Pittsburgh, New Haven, and now DC, I’ve learned that healing begins when we are allowed to be seen, heard, and vulnerable.

As historically oppressed people, we’ve often been taught to survive by masking our pain; to appear strong, stoic, and unshaken. Embracing Wellness was created as a space to lay those burdens down, to reconnect with self, and to honor every part of our humanity. By embracing our vulnerability, we embrace wellness and open the door to transformative, liberatory healing.
