Professional Bio

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in DC, MD, VA, and FL whose work exists at the intersection of mental health and social justice. I hold a Master of Social Work with a Certificate in Mental Health from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Science and Psychology from Syracuse University.

My professional journey began in forensic and advocacy-based settings, including the Royal Courts of Justice in London, a Pittsburgh law firm supporting child survivors of abuse, and later as a Certified Forensic Interviewer in New York assisting in the investigation and prosecution of child sexual abuse cases. These experiences profoundly shaped my understanding of trauma, systemic harm, resilience, and the lifelong impact of being unheard.

I later transitioned into academia and clinical leadership, serving as a Clinical Instructor of Social Work at Yale University School of Medicine and as a Field Instructor at the University of Houston. Throughout my career, I have published research, facilitated trainings, and spoken nationally on trauma, racial identity, systemic inequities, and culturally responsive mental health care. My work has been featured at institutions and conferences including the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference, Yale Medicine, the Human Rights Commission, and the University of Tennessee.

Today, I provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive psychotherapy for adults who appear high-functioning on the surface while internally navigating anxiety, overwhelm, emotional exhaustion, and chronic self-sacrifice. Many of my clients have spent years being “the strong one” for everyone else while feeling disconnected from themselves and quietly carrying the weight of unprocessed pain.

My approach integrates talk therapy with somatic and body-based healing practices to help clients reconnect with themselves, process what they’ve survived, and create lives rooted in authenticity, softness, and emotional regulation.

HerStory

Embracing Wellness began as a wellness blog in 2020 and later evolved into a Washington, DC–based therapy practice grounded in healing, authenticity, liberation, and community care.

As a Bronx native, I have witnessed both the profound pain and extraordinary resilience that shape our communities and lived experiences. Across my journey through New York City, London, Pittsburgh, New Haven, and Washington, DC, I’ve learned that healing often begins the moment we feel safe enough to be fully seen.

Many of us, particularly from historically marginalized communities, were taught to survive by suppressing our emotions, minimizing our needs, and silently carry impossible amounts of responsibility; we learned to perform strength while suffering in silence.

Embracing Wellness was created as a space to lay those burdens down, to reconnect with self, and to honor every part of our humanity.

By embracing our vulnerability, we embrace wellness and open the door to transformative, liberatory healing.
